Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Abraham Hicks, Zig Ziglar. These are all people I’ve listened to in order to get motivation and inspiration. I love going on brisk walks or hikes and listening to these geniuses talk about life. But then I noticed something.
Listening to the “gurus” is a great way to learn. But at a certain point you need to take over the reigns. At a certain point you will become the guru. Trust yourself enough to let that transition happen.
Today’s topic – How to become the guru. Repetition, repetition, repetition. We learn through our thoughts, words, and actions. Listening alone will not get you to the next level. You’ve heard the expression: “the best way to learn is to teach.” It’s true!
Why is this important?
In order to live a fulfilling life, we need to be growing. Constantly striving to the next level will ultimately keep you satisfied with your life.

How to apply this in your life
Every morning, listen to the audio recording. After a few weeks, you’ll be able to speak along with me. This is when you know you are internalizing the concepts on a deep level.
What do you think your body would look and feel like if you continue to move like you did when you were a kid, before fitness became about treadmills and calories. There is a better way and now you've found it. Welcome to the Core Balance Podcast with your host Chris Janke-Bueno.
Hello and welcome to the podcast. Today I want to talk about something that I have been going through recently and then maybe relate it back to you guys and see if I can help you out. So I love listening to Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Abraham Hicks, Zig Ziglar, all these gurus. These are people I have listened to in the past to either get inspiration or kind of help me out with my spirituality or things like that. And I love going on brisk walks or hikes or even just working out doing my core balance exercises and listening to just some of these great thought leaders, some of these geniuses. Just talk about life and their passions and again spirituality, motivation, inspiration. But then one day very recently actually I noticed something. Listening to the gurus is a great way to learn but at a certain point you need to trust yourself and you need to take over the reins and at a certain point you need to become the guru. You need to become the guru of your life. I'm not necessarily saying that you need to start making digital downloads and CDs and videos and things like that and going on PBS Specials like Wayne Dyer does. I mean that you need to trust yourself enough to let this transition happen where instead of going outside of yourself you are going inside of yourself. And a lot of times listening to people outside and getting that feedback outside of yourself is beneficial and it helps kind of get the ball rolling a little bit but then we need to take over and take the reins.
So today's topic is how to become a guru. Now, I believe we learn through repetition. So repetition is absolutely the way that you do this and by becoming a guru what I mean again is that you are trusting your own inner light to guide you to the path and down the path that you are meant to walk. And then you don't have to listen to anybody at least you don't feel like you have to listen to them all the time to get down that path. So there's a sort of awakening.
So we learn through a lot of things like I said repetition, but it's not the repetition that you may think. It's not repetition of hearing something necessarily although that is the start. But we learn through our thoughts, our words and our actions. So listening alone will not get you to that next level because if you listen alone and that's all you are doing then basically you are the passive observer. In order to really take the reins and make it your life, own it, you need to think it, speak it and do it. So you've heard the expression I'm sure, the best way to learn is to teach and that's absolutely true. And so I'm going to talk a little bit about how you can actually become that person who guides your own life and is motivated and inspired and you don't have to listen to somebody else to get you inspired. That's coming from without. You want it to come from within. Now again it's good –listening to all these people is good for a while but again at a certain point you want to be able to just click it on within you and that's powerful, that's very powerful because then you have a goal, you have something you want to achieve and then if you also have that internal reservoir of inspiration, that connection inside of you then that goal would be yours. You will move toward it in your own way.
So why is this important though? I believe that in order to have a fulfilling life we need to be growing, constantly striving for that next level, never comparing ourselves to other people but just thinking where am I now and where is the next step, where do I want to go, what's the next step in my life for me to manifest my dreams. And so constantly striving to that next level will ultimately keep you the most satisfied.
So how do you do this exercise? Okay, I have recorded a motivational video excuse me motivational audio and you can download it here in the show notes. Now again this is the temporary scaffolding. This is the practice because again you should eventually not need to listen to me every day but it's a good start. And it's a good start for me to show you my tactic here. So my tactic is that you listen to me talking in a very motivated way and you do this every single day for 30 days okay every morning you wake up, you listen to the audio recording, while you are on your walk, while you are doing your workout, whatever it is and for the first maybe week or two you are just listening and then after that you start to begin to talk at the same time. So you are following along basically with me, you've heard it enough that you can follow along and speak these words. Remember we learn through thoughts, words and across and it's interactive, it's getting in you but then out of you as well. So, on your walks speaking at the same time as I am. From there you will just get better and better at it and what I did – I actually did this with Tony Robbins, with Wayne Dyer, with all those gurus is followed along with them and I can sing a lot of their CDs verbatim because I was practicing them so much, almost like an actor rehearsing a part and I found myself after a couple of months actually talking similarly to some of these gurus when I was talking to clients or friends or things like that.
Now I know you may be thinking okay yeah but that wasn't you talking Chris that was Tony Robbins or that was Wayne Dyer talking. Okay, I can understand that argument and at the same time, who is me talking before, who was it that I was talking before? That was an accumulation of parents, teachers, the media, every sound, every person’s voice that I had heard before. All of us are way more connected than we would like to be, than we would even think that we are. We are not an island that is producing all this independent stuff necessarily. We are so interconnected. So one thing that's really important as you are trying to grow and trying to take yourself to the next level is to choose which sounds, which pictures actually make it to your consciousness. And this is vital I mean I stopped watching TV for the most part and I just listen to all these people Tony Robbins and all these people, I did this for years. And it works. It works. I started to think like them. I started to speak like them and then what's kind of cool about this too is that you get to the point where you are speaking – you are almost using that guru as a role model but then you start to develop your own style and your inner spirit starts to come out which is really the goal right. So again I'm using this little exercise as sort of a temporary scaffolding, use it to build yourself up and then get rid of it and then be your own guru.
So again how to how to apply this to your life? Every morning you listen to the audio recording. After a few weeks you will be able to speak along with me and that's when you know that you are internalizing these concepts on a deep level. So download the recording here on this page, on the show notes page so if you go mycorebalance.com, click on podcasts and we are on Episode 19, Episode Number 19.
So again go to the show notes page if you are not there already. Download it, listen to it every day for a month, follow along with me and I encourage you to do this 30 days, you will be absolutely amazed.
