Sprints are much better for you than just jogging. It’s like lifting weights for your heart. Make sure that after the sprint you take adequate rest (double the time of what the sprint was). For example, if your sprint lasts 20 seconds, rest for 40 seconds.
A workout might look like this:
- core balance warm-up (including hips, shoulders, core 4, legs, full body ROM)
- 100 meter sprint (about 15-20 seconds), then rest for 30-40 seconds (repeat 2 to 6 times)
- slow run, 10-15 minutes
Experiment with changing the distance. Try 400 meters, 200 meters, 100 meters, and even shorter. Also, you can do longer intervals if you're an experienced runner. You can run a mile at a good pace, rest, and then do it again. There are unlimited options with interval training.
