There are many fitness myths out there. They are misconceptions that prevent people from reaching their goals. Let's quickly examine the top 6 fitness myths.
Myth #1: I can eat what I want as long as I burn off the calories
There are two factors that make someone appear “bigger” than they want to be. Yes, one of them is too much fat. The other is inflammation. You can lose all the fat you want, but if you still have inflammation you’ll still look fat. Unhealthy foods will actually cause inflammation in the body. So diet and exercise always go together.
Myth #2: It takes a lot of time to get fit
It does not take any more than 45 minutes per day. In fact, if you’re spending hours in the gym you may be counterproductive. In addition to workouts, there are other factors that you must do: get enough sleep, eat properly, and recovery properly between workouts.
Myth #3: You need to buy equipment, or get a gym membership
At My Core Balance, most of our square footage is taken up by…nothing! We don’t have much equipment and we don’t expect you to buy any special equipment either. We’ll teach you how to rely on your intelligence rather than on some new fitness gadget.
Myth #4: You need a certain body type, that you’re either born with or not
Of course there are differences between people. But everyone, EVERYONE, has the ability to create the body they’ve been wanting. Do not use excuses to talk yourself out of a workout. If you do the right things, you will get results.
Myth #5: Size equals strength
Just because you’re muscular looking doesn’t mean you’re strong. Building muscle and building strength are two totally different goals. Most people do not necessarily want to add a lot of bulk to their frames, in that case My Core Balance is a great program. Some people do want to build bulk, and in that case we have a program for that too.
Myth #6: No pain, no gain
This is the biggest misconception of all. If you are in pain during your workouts, you’re doing something wrong. Re-balancing your workouts is the key to eliminating pain.
I recommend trying My Core Balance for yourself. If you're near our gym, try our intro program (30 days of classes plus one 30-minute personal training session for just $30).
